Speed of a Bubble Set

The set consists of three rugged, sealed, transparent plastic tubes containing colored fluids of three different viscosities. The bubble in each tube rises at a constant speed which depends on the type of fluid, the angle at which the tube is inclined and to some extent the temperature. Students track the time taken by an air bubble to move from the bottom to the top of 3 different colored tubes. From this they can link the mathematical concept of slope to the physical science concept of velocity. Includes instructions.
